Building Attention: Game 1 Clicker dog training

This video goes over one game of how to train your dog to pay attention to you in distracting environments. If you find that your dog is not interested in the game, try the game with higher level reinforcement- better treats (or toys), move to a less distracting environment, more to an area where you can run more (yet is safe)- as you could see in my video my yard was almost too small to play this game as its really moving fast and away that encourages a dog to run to you.

www.sitmeanssit.com My puppy has already learned to get into and out of the water safely, a long with knowing how to retrieve in water also. Today is just a fun little game of having him negotiate a little obstacle on a straight line to the pool. These little games of learning to go straight through, and not around objects will help him in his learning to run hunt tests when he is a little older. It is very hot in Las Vegas right now, so I try to constantly come up with imaginative things to keep him interested in training, but yet still be able to keep him cool with the summertime heat. “Kohl” is a 3 1 month old Black Labrador Retriever. how do i make a clicker? / how do i train my puppy without the clicker????????
I recently got a mini australian Shepherd, When I try this game he nips at my pants. How can I play this game without reinforcing his nipping?
This is helpful. I used something similar when I was teaching my rescue her name, to come to me, and that I was more interesting than the neighbor’s dog barking at her. Still needs some work, but I think I definitely ought to look into getting a clicker because the noise is louder and harder to ignore than my voice. But sometimes I put her in a large fenced area so she can just run and burn off some energy, and now she prefers just to hang around me and look at me expectantly xD
Great video.
I love watching your videos.
-Full of important information
-Straight to the point
-Short.
keep’em coming……………
A nice game. I played it with my dog, my cats and even my parrots and it worked exceptionally well 🙂 I will ask my dog dancing trainer if we can do it as a warm-up to learn the dogs not to run off to other trainers all the time. Thanks for making the video.
I have a 6 week old Border Collie, but he doesn’t even want food from my hand, he isn’t interested in any toys I bought him. Is he too small for training? Or should I wait a few days until he gets used to the place?? Yesterday, when we got him he bit everything and I started to train him with clicker training, not to bite, but because he didn’t want food from my hand “I” was frustrated. So I just friendly interrupted him, and now he stoped it. But I WANT to use clicker training. What to do?
Is that a border collie? because ive always wanted a dog that is very intelligent and easy to train. I have a Beagle right now and she wont listen to me when i try to teach her new tricks, she just sniffs my hands a licks them because i have a treat in my hand. Also she wont pay attention to me. Do u have any advice u can give me?
do u have that tutorial on invisable wall up yet?
What a pretty puppy. This video just shows how quickly you can build up a bond with your dog. His second day with you. Wow.
Hi Kikopup:) Thank you so much for all your videos, they are so valuable, useful and so well explained. After watching your videos, I am wondering, in what order we should I train my new puppy? For example, 1. Attention 2. There name 3. Sit … Etc. Thank you again.
you have so many videos i dont even know where to start from.. 😛
Good luck !
This looks great! I really hope this works on my 8 week old Finnish Lapphound/Karelian beardog mix 🙂

i Have a Beagle that I got as rescue dog. He has no interest at all in toys and I have tried encouraging him to play with toys by cutting open a tennis ball and putting a treat in it but he doesnt show any interest in anything but getting the food out. How can i train him to do things like fetching?
do u have any vids that would help me clean a 4 yr old rescue dog’s teeth. she doesnt like her mouth being touched at all.
You and you efforts to help others are greatly appreciated 🙂
This is brilliant, insightful, and kind. Wonderful! The perfect solution to a dog who runs away; spreading this knowledge as clearly as you are will surely keep many dog from running out into traffic or other dangers. Bravo!
Hi! Do you have a HIGH 5 OR WAVE You Tube?
