I want a cavi sooo bad! My old neighbors had bunch of them when I was like four and actually offered to let my parents have one free of charge but my parents said no 🙁
I saw the cutest one about a year ago, it came running up the hill towards me and my sister – the woman was like, “I’m soo sorry, she just LOVES people!” haha, but I didn’t mind.
Im hoping to get one next year as I work from home and live by myself 😛

just a tip, don’t say the command and that often. Wait until she has sat before you say sit, it actually goes faster then, depending on the dog. my cav learned sit in 2 min and lay down in about 5 min

I know this is a stupid question, but I’ve always been scared of dogs and how they act, however I love these dogs because they’re so loving and affectionate. My fried has 3, I see them every week. She got the 3rd one around october last year at i think 4 months old, so he’s about a year old by now and he’s lovely. But, I don’t get how when you feed them using your hands, they don’t accidently bite your fingers a little bit? I’ve always been terrified by that, and it’s pathetic!

Most breeds will be ready for multiple training sessions by 8 weeks if they have had proper socialization. Before the first session, offer them a variety of treats and determine their favorites. If they act disinterested, afraid, or stressed, they may be behind in social development in which case you’ll need to work on socialization skills and then try again in a week or so. It’s very important that you not push them if they aren’t ready.

Hey There! Thanks a lot for this useful video. By the way, I hear lots of people keep on talking about Xobodog Training (search on google), but I’m not sure if it is good. Have you considered this dog training program called Xobodog Training? I have heard several amazing things about it.

Tab, do you need a clicker?

  13. Saba Rahman says:

Tab, how much do you charge for sessions? I would love help with recall.

  14. Ginni Emanuel says:

Tab, I have watched all of your videos, my GSP can do all of the tricks and behaviors you have taught me, except for RECALL. For 4 1/2 years, my dog runs off at any opportunity sending my husband and I into a panic. She does pretty well on loose lead, trying not to use prong collar. I am about to give up and learn ecollar 🙁 , because I can’t keep her safe. My dog appears to be much more assertive than yours. Hunting instinct strong. maybe you can help?

  16. Helen Witherspoon says:

I agree with how important recall is. When we are out of the house and in more unformiliar area, our dog ignores us. Also, how the heck do you get rid at the appropriate time to get read of treats????????? She won’t do anything without treats. Thanks your help. You have the gift.

You can try things that your dog likes like a toy, patting, or you can even play fetch as a reward

  22. Doverbendoverben says:

What do u do when your dog goes really far away and out of eye contact? Say the other side of the house in a big yard? Also what kind of treat rewards do u use? My dog we saved from the shelter and has obviously been training with her old owners. But has not been interested an any treat I have tried yet?

Never treat dog away or to another object, always from you. Restrain recall could be helpful…

  26. Stephanie Buzzella says:

My dog (a black lab female) has learned that running from us is a wicked fun game. I’m working on her recall with a 50 ft lead and she returns to me with no problem when she’s on lead, but as soon sashes off lead there isn’t getting her back unless she’s ready to come back. Any advice will be great. Thanks!

  33. DavidTheBeast Ortiz says:

Example of excellent treats are small pieces of chicken or beef. You can add liver or small size pieces of gizzards. Whatever your dog loves. Dont train your dog on a full stomach. Train in small time intervals at first. 5-10 minutes is ok. Only one command per session per week so the dog wont get confused. Be patient. My GSD and Belgian Mal are being trained and I think in several Weeks I will post some training videos. Good luck to you all! 🙂

  34. DavidTheBeast Ortiz says:

Build a relarionship. If the dog doesnt listen its because the distraction is more enticing than you. Thats why you have to mix up your treats when you train. It will keep the dog guessing whats next in the treat bag. Also, you can use ANY CLICKER. Just note that if the noise is too loud the dog will be scared so my advice is to put the clicker inside a sock. That will make the “click” more acceptable.
