If you make your dog into a close friend by doing such things as talking to him, playing with him, and taking him for long walks, your dog will be much more responsive and attentive when you are training him. ★Consistency Delivering consistent messages to your dog will help him to view his world as black and white rather than various shades of grey. By consistent messages, I mean the commands that you decide to use to train, praise, and reprimand your dog should always be the same. It is important that all members of the family are aware of this and use the same commands themselves. ★Repetition Dogs are creatures of habit and learn by repetition. It will take several repetitive training sessions for your dog to get the response you require implanted into his brain and for the action to become automatic. ★Session Length Keep formal sessions short and enjoyable so that your dog maintains concentration throughout. Quality not quantity is the golden rule. Always finish a training session on a positive note. ★Praise Use praise whenever your dog has completed an exercise correctly. 26. HowdiniGuru says:

You can try pulling your hand back w/ a frim “NO!” or “DOWN!” and keep repeating. You may even want to try using a leash to help control her a bit. Even if you have another person holding the leash for control for you.
Labs are known to be so very energetic when they are puppies. HTH.

  27. bochog0154 says:

my 3 months old lab.is so aggressive when im about to teach her how to sit.when i put my arms above her head. she jumps and reach for the treat.how can i teach her with that kind of behaviour.

  28. HowdiniGuru says:

Understand your skepticism. Personally, I have my own very SPOILED Chihuahua. She totally know how to “work” me for a treat! Little diva….:)

  29. HowdiniGuru says:

Train both at the same time. Just have a treat in each hand. If they are to squirmy then work one at a time. (BTW…it must be adorable to have two puppies!) 🙂

  30. HowdiniGuru says:

So sorry but every puppy is so different. Some will get it in a day and other might take over a month. Just keep working w/ him/her is short frequent sessions.

  31. CampinBush says:

not sure if this will work on my spoiled chihuahua but thanks and I will try it!

  32. paulodadddy says:

how could you train two puppies at once?

  33. yj461 says:

how long until a puppy will learn the trick fully?

  34. finlay bishop says:

iv’e got to start soon as my dog is a newfoundland

  35. HowdiniGuru says:

As soon as he starts to walk back, bring the treat closer to you. Keep on working with him. It will take some time. Good Luck! 😉

  36. HowdiniGuru says:

Maybe you can wait till he/she is a bit more calm and relaxed. Or, Maybe you can start with a leash and hold it where there is little give in it.

  37. HowdiniGuru says:

Just keep on working with him/her. Don’t give up! You can do it! 🙂

  38. hookedonpolish31 says:

my dog goes wild n start jumping this did not work for me =/

  39. leon323 says:

I put the food over my dogs head and it just looks up and the farther I go back the more he just walks back. What can I do in this situation

  40. Franshescaramirez says:

What do you do if your puppy is just too energetic and is jumping and biting and scratching

  41. HowdiniGuru says:

    Thanks for watching! 😉

  42. TheAl3xcastillo says:

  44. HowdiniGuru says:

Thanks for watching and offering a suggestion to the previous commenter! 🙂

  45. HowdiniGuru says:

Are you holding it too high? Try holding it much lower.

  46. jesterdustin says:

then your holding it to high, try holding it just a little higher then his nose but not high enough that he has to go on hind paws 🙂

  47. TheAl3xcastillo says:

my dog jumps to eat it

  48. HowdiniGuru says:
