Short Pamphlet on Puppy Raising,
This is a short 27-page book with some basic puppy raising information. There’s certainly some good advice, but also some contradictory information (such as telling you to put the puppy in their sleeping room, behind a door, when napping, but then telling you to be sure to take them outside the instant they wake up..hard to do if you can’t see them!) Some advice is pretty good, such as the section on getting your puppy to sleep the first few nights, while other sections really suffer from lack of information, for instance the training information which talks about never letting your puppy ignore a command and yet doesn’t talk about proper training (and NOT for instance giving a command if your puppy hasn’t been taught it yet). I would have liked to see some mention for instance of clicker training which is a wonderful and extremely powerful way to training puppies. So, this is an okay, quick intro to raising a puppy, but I’d certainly recommend other books for more comprehensive and complete information that will take you past the first week or two of owning your dog.

This book was short, to the point, and full of great advice. I only wish I read this one first before another longer puppy training book and didn’t waste my time getting to the good stuff.

|I LEARNED LOADS FROM MARY’S BOOK!,
It’s most important to “get it right from the get-go” if you want to raise a happy, obedient, loving ‘best friend’ AND to be a happy, proud, love-giving dog owner. Most people would like to get first-hand information from someone who has lived out their advice–learned what does and doesn’t work. Well, you’ve got that in Mary. Mary has years and years of successfully raising puppies to adulthood and shares the wealth of her knowledge in this book. She not only advises what you should do, but why you should do it that way, also. Every page is loaded with valuable guidance. The book is delightful and easy reading.
