If you get one, prepare to put up with him howling for 6months while you kennel train him (you MUST kennel train for the purpose of obedience training which is important for Beagles). Also, be ready to get annoyed at how extremely hard it is to house break them. Also, NEVER let them get off a leash outside your house, they will wander off following their noses and they will not listen to a word you say.

why do they always use dogs that have been trained?? Why not use a dog that is being trained . ??

Ok. So when i was trying to teach my Beagle to Lay Down i was doing this EXACT same thing and he would just jump on the treat instead of lying down. What can i do to make him Lay Down? I knew nothing about dogs and decided to rescue an abandoned beagle pup when the humane society came to pick him up from my apartment complex. The little guy had been tied to a tree for two days in the sun. I can honestly say it was the best thing I have ever done. This dog is a member of my family and we love him so much, they are so affectionate and sweet.
Beagles are very sensitive to tone of voice. When he’s good, be happy, and the opposite when he if bad. Beagles unlike many dogs actually almost feel sad when their owner is not pleased unless they are following a scent and then their breed kicks in and there is little to no stopping them. Also know that treats are used for many dogs, but Beagles run by 3 things–pleasing the owner, hunting (following scent), and food.
I loooooooove beagles! Great video, I agree that toys are also a great method of teaching. My dog Sasha responds to toys really well.

never train with treats , WHY , JUST LOOK AT 1:07 to 1:12 , jumping cause of the treat , if you train with out treats you will not have this behavior , the mind will be on the treat not the training , get the book , WATER DOG ,
