    Hi,
I was just wondering if the positive interrupter could be used when a puppy is jumping up on you or hanging off your clothes??
    Thanks in advance,

That’s a hard one. Maybe if you can find a puppy class in your area that uses only positive training, contact the trainer and ask if you can sit in on one of the classes. Bring y our mom so she can see how well it works and have the trainer explain to her why. You can also find many resources of why using positive motivation is better for the dog than using negative motivation.

When you reward him with the food reward, praise and give small calm pets as you release the treat from your hand. This will desensitize him to being handled at the same time 🙂 Don’t pet him for long period, just a quick brush down the back as he’s taking the reward.

Hello,I have a 3 month old siberian husky and have a question regarding praising. He responds fairly well to the interrupter but when I try to praise him by petting him, he starts biting my hand. Should I not praise by petting him? Love your videos by the way.

I use natural balance dog food rolls by dick van patten. It’s cheap, easy and dog’s love them! You just have to cut them up yourself.

What do you use for treats?

@Krissykriss1468 hi ^^ ive been watching ur videos lately because my parents told me that i will get a dog after we move. Im very aware of the usage of the clicker and positive reinforcement ! But the thing is my mom will be looking over it most of the time.. She isnt aware of the use of clicker and thinks treats treats and treats! I tried to show her ur videos about it and she refuses.. I want the best for puppy of course 😉 how can i get it through her? Any suggestions? Or vids? Thank you!!

I have a border collie dog and want to train, more than anything, for working with cattle that are orders that I have to teach? what do you advise?

  13. Krissykris1468 says:

Yes, the owners were using pee pads before I had that session. grass pads are teh fake grass on top. It provides a different feel under the paws so it doesn’t teach your dog to pee on your floor. If your puppy pee’s on the floor, it’s our fault, we weren’t observing him or her, they have NO way of telling us until they are around 4-6 mo old, so it’s up to us to consistently take them to a spot (pee grass) or outside on a regular basis so it becomes memory for them.

  14. Olivia Tang says:

I should probably note that I’ve seen your comments below about pee grass. Are those the pee pads with fake grass? I’m primarily asking because I noticed the puppy in this video has pee pads and just in the interest of forming good habits.

  15. Olivia Tang says:

Sorry if you’ve already answered this question, but do you endorse using pee pads initially for puppies and weaning them off as they get older? I know ideally, you’d get them outside or interrupt when they’re about to go inside, but what about situations where you can’t make it outside consistently?

  16. Krissykris1468 says:

The only reason you don’t use their name is because we say that word ALOT, we use their name when we give a cue, and many times for a beginning of a recall. It’s sometimes easier to have different words for different behaviours to make it easier for us to pair to. But you could use your dogs name as a interrupter but it may not work as well, you may say her name by talking to someone and she would look, no reward she would be slowly desensitized thinking she did it wrong.

  17. Indianabones007 says:

Hi there, love the videos but I’m a bit confused on this one, is the interrupter the same as using it’s name or do you not use this because you don’t want to say it too much, thanks

smtimes he know n pee on it, but smtimes he pee wherever he want., 🙁 how to make him understand that i don’t like that behavior?

  20. jane13518 says:

hey there, i’ve done it but at night how to teach him to pee on a place that i’ve prepared it for him? bcause at night he often pee on floor n sleep on it 🙁

  21. Krissykris1468 says:

When you first get your pup you will only have a few minutes of attention so it’s best to do very short sessions a few times per day – but generally a pup up till 4mo should be playing and sleeping a lot (playing is learning). It’s better to teach one cue at a time as to not confuse the puppy. Make sure to take the puppy outside every 45 minutes or put him on a pee grass (NOT PADS) with the cue “go pee” until they go, reward once their done.

Hi, Thanks for all your vids. I bought a male Border collie and he will born on March. So, i am trying to learn all i can with your amazing vids until there. could u answer me some questions?
How long time i can teach my dog the tricks in a day? Can i teach him more the one trick at the same time or it is better to go to a new command after he is good in sit for example? How can i teach him to pipi in a write place? I live in apartment.
    Thanks a lot for all

You must keep the reinforcements going for at LEAST 1 month, then slowly weaning food out and mix toys/play/praise in place. Usually by 6 months (done teething) you don’t need to use it any longer. But it’s an awesome tool to have with a young pup in the house.

I’ve been trying to find an appropriate interrupter for my almost 4 month old golden/shep mix. I may have rushed the criteria. Will use this video to try again!

Thank you very much. Your video are very helpful. I’ve learn a lot.
