I have an 8 week old male Golden Retriever puppy and a 4 year old granddaughter . My granddaughter is handicapped and often sits on the floor. Is there a way to get the dog to give her only very gentle attention or leave her alone when she’s had enough?

Julie and I are just friends and training partners. We don’t even live in the same city anymore. We each have two dogs. She has a Puggle and a Cattle Dog mix. I have a Beagle and a mostly-Beagle mix.

If you have a dog that is displaying fearful or aggressive behaviour towards childrens and you are expecting a child, please get off of youtube and get some professional help! Google search “Dogs and Storks” and “Jennifer Shyrock” and get in touch with them to help you find a local resource!

Try using a tug toy designed to hold food inside. An old sock with meat inside it can be used to build motivation to tug. Use carefully though as there is a danger of ingestion – it should never be left unsupervised.

I have a terrier who was a rescue, she is less than a year old and doesn’t play. Ive tried several things including putting treats in toys and tossing them but she is not interested Id like to reward her with play sessions for doing well on a walk or after a training session. Ive played with my daughters dog in front of her fetch , tug etc, to show her but didnt help.
    Any tips would be great.
