It’s essentially exactly the same but allows you to have perfect timing. Which helps them understand what you are praising them for. If for example you want to teach them to touch something with their nose, you can click the instant it touches their nose and they’ll come look for their reward. if they touch with their nose then lick it and paw it all in the same movement it can be a little tricky for them to understand what they did that got them the reward. clicker just makes it easier.

Thankyou for not saying “walkese”. I raised two Labs from pups and gotta say they are the best. R.I.P Duke of 11 Yrs. And Bozz @ 14.

  7. BlazedHearts says:

Do you need a big backyard for a lab? I want to adopt one from a shelter, but I’m worried it won’t have enough room.

if this pup is 11 months, I’ve going to have a monster. at 3 months, he’s already able to turn doorknobs, and pull anything near the edge of the kitchen counter. His legs are twice as long. At least Charlie’s mostly housebroken. Now if I can get him to learn not to bite. He seems to get lick and bite confused. Fetch is a gimme, unless it’s a frisbee, of all things. Balls, he’s good with. Frisbee, it’s chase it down, kill it, gnaw on it, ignore any external input.

  14. generalxanos says:

If you can’t tell the difference between a labrador and an alsatian, you have no business accusing others about choices of dogs. Labs are soft-mouthed, unless mistreated, they don’t bite hard. Drug dealers like pit bulls and mastiffs. Get your facts right, and lay off the drugs. And yeah, black labradors are a sandy color, riiiight.

I’ve got a 3 month old lab who can open doors with handles or just knobs. He’s mostly housebroken, but I figure he’s early for the clicker training, he’s part border collie and has severe ADD issues. I plan on training him as much as I can myself, but may look to obedience school. And rebuilding my fence from the ground up.

  16. generalxanos says:

We could do that with cats and the sound of an electric can opener…

  17. Zirrkis says:

midnight is a cliche name for a black dog… 😛

  18. Joel759 says:

The clicker is used to get him used to it so she can use it when he’s older without given him treats. It is also a way the dog knows how’s its master and will listen only to her

We just got a year old Black Lab today..He did not have a good start in life..Right now our man problems with him are he will slap you where ever he can reach and leave marks all over you and he has clue of personal space..he wants to be right on top of you…any ideas ?

  20. BLACKMAN6911 says:

    What does the clicker do??

  21. UnifiedaxxS says:

How much does a clicker cost?

  22. strebis6 says:

I kinda of do the same thing with my Chihuahau and Chiweenie. All I do is snap my fingers and they come running. They can be out of sight and snap snap and they’ll be at my feet within seconds.
It’s better than yelling for them to come especially at night when the neighbors are asleep.

  23. shawtng says:

you have to not leave the food out for them all day. I feed my lad 3 time a day so that way it is easier to balance there eating habits.

  24. shawtng says:

I have a 10 week old yellow lab and i wanted to know, how is the best way to get her to shake hands. I have the sit park down and now working on the stay. I like that you got your pup to stay as you walked by her.

  25. TheWumboBuMbo says:

Now i feel my black lab is inferior he doesn’t even know how to shake a paw, but can your dog snore really loud?

  26. shivambansal99 says:

    very nice video 🙂

  27. kikito4151 says:

  31. Buddyb309 says:

    *in a mockery voice*

“eeee everyone look eet meee!!!! I’m Luckyseven17 and I get off on teeeling oother peeeple what to dieeeooooooo!!! dooo deee doooo!!!”

  33. MissLydiaSmiler says:

    Man: shake..shake the other one………wouf
    Dog: wouf..
    Man: wouf..
    Man: wouf..
    Dog: …WOUF! xD ♥

  34. michellenn93 says:

you just teach her to lay on her side first then everytime she does it say “bang” and give her a treat and use the clicker. She will then learn that when you say bang thats what you want her to do. You have to have her learn the action before assosiating the word command with it.

  35. shenial ratnam says:

i just brought that dog yesterday siick ass dog

  36. thatsfanfreakitastic says:

  38. chasedrgc1223 says:

@jerryficus how did you train her to do paw (shake), and “bang”? I just got my lab, Sasha, today she is 12 weeks old, and would LOVE to teach her these tricks. Thank you.

  39. daisymazy100 says:

omg how did u do that bang trick!

  40. Luckyseven17 says:

In this video, clicker is not used properly – “click” should come at a time when the dog is doing the trick, not after it. Also, jumping or rolling over is NOT good for a puppy in growth..

  41. winterscrapper says:

    How cute is she!!!

  42. angelo173100 says:

I wish I had a dog like that

  43. gyaruningyou says:

Our male lab is 9 weeks and he gets distracted so easily 🙁 does yours cry and whine and bark all night long still? Ours does it and can’t be seperated from us or it cries 24-7! So we have to keep it in its crate at night in our room so it wont cry :/

  44. cierradavis13 says:

*bang* did I die? Did I killya? So cute

  45. EpicBunnehx3 says:

thats well good, my 10 week old lab can only sit :L
